Getting married in another country has its challenges. You don’t know the ins and outs, it might be hard picking the exact venue and perhaps you don’t know the language. And yet it has major advantages! To me it’s obvious from the start that I’m not shooting a wedding from any of the native Nederlanders. There’s something about wedding guests being there with only one purpose: party! Because hey! There won’t be anyone who has to go to work early in the morning!
Wedding at the Pulitzer
Margot and Logan live in the United States and they picked the Pulitzer Hotel in Amsterdam as their wedding venue. And I have to say: locations like that are tricky. A venue needs ‘character’ to bring that intimacy and hotels tend to be impersonal. Luckily the Pulitzer doesn’t have that at all. The rooms used for the ceremony, dinner and party were sufficiently private and decorated in such a way that all the guests felt truly comfortable.
Of course Vivian ter Huurne from Het Bruidsmeisje played a major role in that! It was great working with her as well as with Louise Adby! Sometimes wedding photographers like to try things. Things that require a bit more planning, waiting and observation. Those things can be hard to do at your ‘own’ weddings. And that’s why the phenomenal Louise came along to the wedding of Margot and Logan. Check out the links of Vivian and Louise below.
